DOUBLE

Recently, the Lord had me seeing DOUBLE.

I saw double objects, double shadows and even saw the word double several times in a day. After asking Him to share with me what exactly He was referring to, it hit me in a moment.

I was driving down the road and passed a ranch sign that read “Thomas” and I knew. Years ago, Holy Spirit gave me revelation concerning the disciple Thomas in John chapter 20. Jesus, by the way, never called him “doubting Thomas” (you can thank religion and man for that). Jesus did, however, lovingly remind Thomas who he really was, leading him to throw unbelief out the door.

In one verse (24), the Holy Spirit saw it fit to even repeat or double up on his name. Thomas means twin. The Hebrew root of his name, ta’am, means to be doubled. His Greek name, Didymus, also means “two” or “twice.”

The same day Jesus rose from the dead, He appeared to His frightened disciples who were hiding for fear of the religious control-mongers (sound familiar?…its the same tyrannical spirit in our nation now).

Without Thomas in attendance, the Resurrected Conqueror of fear, death and religion says to them, “Peace to you” or “Shalom” which means, be full of peace, quietness, health, prosperity and completeness. At the same time, He shows them physically why they can have this peace as He points to His nail-scarred hands and pierced side (Isaiah 53:5) revealing to them their redemption is finished work!

Eight days later, Thomas decides to join them in the upper room. The other disciples tell him the whole story about seeing Jesus alive and Thomas proceeds to tell them unless he sees what they saw, he won’t believe. Then, BAM, Jesus reappears in their midst, just for him! Without condemnation or reproach, the risen Lord looks into Thomas’s eyes with acceptance and love and shows him that he is now Jesus’s twin; His double.

By Jesus having Thomas put his finger in His wounded hands and side, Jesus was in essence saying, “See, My death was your death. My resurrection was your resurrection. As I AM, so are you now in this world” (1 John 4:17).

Beloved, you are now Jesus’s double. You are co-heirs of the Kingdom of God with your “twin” brother (Hebrews 2:11,12) being given His very identity. When your Abba Father sees you, He sees Jesus. He is relating to you according to His Son’s righteousness and favor. This is what it means to be IN CHRIST.

Because Jesus was doubly tormented taking your curse, He can righteously give you double for your trouble when you put your hope and trust in Him.

“Come home, hope-filled prisoners!
    This very day I’m declaring a double bonus—
    everything you lost returned twice-over!” Zechariah 9:12 msg.

Because He received a double dose of your shame and guilt, you now have His double honor bestowed upon you!

“Instead of your shame, you shall have double honor.” Isaiah 61:7

And because Jesus was torn in two taking your sin, you can now take-up a double share of His Spirit under the mantle of His righteousness, grace and love!

“Elisha said, ‘Please let a double portion of your spirit be upon me…He took up the mantle of Elijah that had fallen from him.’” 2 Kings 2:9,13

The Lord is declaring that because all was paid for at the cross, you can now look for twice His blessings. This is a now word. He wants you to expect His two-fold restoration in anything you’ve lost; be it your, peace, health, relationships, finances, time or even personal items.

He knows what you’ve been through, beloved, and He doesn’t miss a thing. Even those things you’ve forgotten about or gave up on due to dark seasons, He remembers all the enemy has robbed you of and has your recompense at hand.

So, get your upper-room-Eagle-vision on. Your Daddy God wants you seeing DOUBLE. I believe you will even see dual signs as confirmation He’s getting ready to release double the glory-gifts in your heart and home. It’s time to cast fear and doubt out the door, use the living Word as your double-edge sword and make belief in His goodness your double portion.
