“Life from the Center is a life of unhurried peace and power. It is simple. It is serene. It is amazing. It is triumphant. It is radiant. It takes no time, but it occupies all our time. And it makes our life programs new and overcoming. We need not get frantic. He is at the helm. And when our little day is done we lie down quietly in peace, for all is well.” -Thomas Kelly
This is one of my (many) favorite quotes. Life from The Center simply put is living life from the Presence of Jesus. Unhurried; without frantic busyness, frenzied days, panic or the need to have control.
We can truly become an overly busy people. Our natural propensity is towards “doing” because it’s within our flesh the law rages on seeking still to get us to do or perform for God in an exhausting effort to please Him.
We still think that somehow DO=God loving us. It’s a hellish state to live from. (He loves because it’s Who He Is). There’s a better Way.
I for one have never been more thankful for this slow down. For me, it’s bliss. For I have learned over the years, what it’s like to live a life from His love; simply “being” His. It’s a fountain of Life-Giving overflowing Water!
Is the Lover of your soul trying to get your attention? Do you find yourself during this quarantine time getting squirmish for fear of being still? Are thoughts of the unknown haunting your mind and rattling your heart? Are you too busy for Love?
Perhaps it took the shutting down of so many other distractions to draw you into His private Sanctuary. His love burns for you, you know.
After all, this is a relationship. And relationship is about intimacy and trust…not trying harder to impress. Relationship is about being real and letting our guard down with the One who is our Reality and Source.
There is a life we were destined for that is immensely richer than the hasty pace we’re used to.
I have spent more than a decade now, consenting to my Lord to take me on a deeper journey into His Rest; a place of progressive undisturbed peace so I can truly enjoy Him as I let go to let Him do what only He can do.
He desires for you to know Him more; to get to know His heart, His nature and His finished work. He desires to care for you fully and show you His pleasure for you which will in turn give you greater pleasure in Him.
He invites you to slow down so you can sense His Spirit lead you one step at a time. He’s not asking you to check off some spiritual do-to list. As a matter of fact, life from The Center will cause you to say “no” to the things you were never meant to do so you can say “yes” to the one thing He desires for you.
In God’s economy less is more:Less of our religious striving equals more of His Supernatural results. Less of our own strength equals more of His Power. Less of our frantic busy schedules equals more time spent in His life-altering Presence.
Beloved, because Jesus did it all, you don’t have to try to. Because His blood alone made you right with God, you can spend alone time with Him right where you are.
Whether you find yourself rushing about to fill moments of time or not being able to quiet your mind internally, Jesus is not asking anything from you except to just be with Him. All else that is meaningful will flow out of that communion with Him.
So don’t let this kairos season slip by, rushing to find something to do in restlessness. Don’t be anxious to get back out in the busy of life only to find yourself unfulfilled with that which is temporary and shallow.
“Thou hast made us for thyself, O Lord, and our heart is restless until it finds its rest in Thee.” -St. Augustine
Instead, get still and come to the only One who can fill any void and be for you what no one else can. All you need, all your soul longs for, all your fruitfulness is found in Jesus, your All in All.
I hear Him say, “Come, let Me see your face, let Me hear your voice…Come, you who are weary and burned out on religion, on life…Come…and find Rest and Resurrection Life in The Center of My Love for you! I make all things new!” (Song of Songs 2:14, Matthew 11:28).
Resting In His Love,
