Goshen: It’s Time To Draw Near To Jesus

“Come to me without delay. You will settle in the land of Goshen where you will be near to me…I will provide all that you need to live in Goshen. You, your household, and all that you have will not live in poverty.” Genesis 45:9-11 TPT

In a time of great uncertainty in the world, the Lord Jesus is your only certainty. In the midst of these turbulent times, He wants you untroubled in the peace of His presence and provision. This happens when you draw near to Him and live in the embrace of His saving grace. 

In Genesis 45, in the middle of a famine, Joseph (a picture of our heavenly Jesus), reveals his identity to his brothers who years before sold him into slavery. He tells them to go to their father Jacob who believes Joseph is dead, and tell him his son is alive. Joseph then instructs his father to come to him without delay and settle in the land of Goshen. In Hebrew, Goshen means, “drawing near.” 

It was in the “land of nearness” during the last five years of the famine, where Joseph cared and provided for his father, his brothers’ families, their flocks and herds and all they possessed. Goshen, “the best part of the land of Egypt” (Gen. 47:6) would be their portion as the rest of Canaan suffered lack.

In the severity of all you see taking place in the natural today, you need to know Jesus Himself is your Goshen. He is calling you to come closer. He wants you to abide under the shadow of His wings and trust in His supernatural supply not your self-efforts. When financial famine, inflation and food shortages are the world’s reality, Jesus, your promise-land, is your surety. He’s looking for you to settle down in complete dependence on Him so He can feed you the best of His surplus.

Beloved, you are in the world but not of the world. Because of the cross, the Lord’s undeserved favor and prosperity are your inheritance. You are already found in Christ at Father’s right hand where everything is finished. But it’s being conscious of this reality and His nearness that causes you to experience Him and all He paid for.

Unfortunately, the devil is always working overtime to get God’s covenant-children into doubt, fear and guilt. Just like when Joseph revealed himself to his brothers, they were scared and ashamed. But Joseph in His mighty love for them, reassured them God had sent him ahead of them to save them. Then he pleaded with them to come closer (Gen. 45:1-8).

Hebrews 10:22 says “let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith.” His heart is for us to always come closer, being fully convinced our hearts were sprinkled with His blood that washed us clean and made us presentable to Him inside and out. 

Believing you are fully forgiven and made the righteousness of God in Christ completely frees you from an accusing conscience. And now in faith you can run to Him boldly! Be yourself with Jesus and have a confident expectation of His goodness and provision.

While there’s an unprecedented world-shaking going on, this is truly the greatest time in history to be alive. You are garrisoned in your “heavenly Goshen” while God is exposing and dismantling the greatest modern evil empire of all time. And as the enemy seeks to force its new-world-order agenda, the Lord is crushing his plans and ushering in His own Great and Certain Reset and Victory plans for His church, America, and the globe. 

But it’s through your intimacy with the Lord you are personally protected and blessed. When you draw near to Jesus and rely on Him alone, He says to you, “There I will provide for you and sustain you, so that you and your household and all that are yours may not become impoverished (Gen. 45:11‬ ‭AMP‬‬).”

“But as for me, it is good for me to draw near to God; I have made the Lord God my refuge and placed my trust in Him, That I may tell of all Your works.”Psalms‬ ‭73:28‬ ‭AMP‬‬
