I share the true story of Saint Patrick every year on March 17, the day he entered into Glory. May it lift you up and remind you that the Lord’s specialty is using darkness to expose His love-light; saving lives, drawing to Himself the least and the lost…
Patrick who was actually English, was a missionary who was no stranger to dark times. He was captured as a slave by Irish pirates.
Forced to be a shepherd in Ireland, hatred fueled his soul for his captors. But in the darkest time of his life, alone in the fields tending sheep, he began to hear the Lord’s voice.
As the love of God came upon him, he turned to the Gospel believing all Christ suffered on his behalf to truly set him free. During this time, he developed an intimate relationship with Jesus.
His heart was transformed by the Lord’s forgiveness, and the hatred he had for his Irish captors was replaced by love. He knew after his miraculous escape, it was his calling to go back to the Irish (he heard Holy Spirit tell him he would) and set them free with the Truth of the cross and all their Savior had done for them!
Patrick, through treacherous persecution, saved thousands while changing the history of the Irish slave trade and the country of Ireland forever!
His breastplate professed the truth worn on my shirt. Let them ring true for you in this seemingly dark season that Jesus is your Shield roundabout. If you’ve put your trust in Him, you are found in Him; forgiven, favored and wholly loved.
And remember, there’s no such thing as good luck. There’s only a Good Good Father!…There’s only Grace (unmerited, unearned, undeserved favor)!
“Do not be afraid…I AM your Shield, your exceedingly great reward.”
Genesis 15:1
“You intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good. He brought me to this position so I could save the lives of many people.” Genesis 50:20
