“The bread of God is the One who came out of heaven to give his life to feed the world.” John 6:33 TPT
Everything about His birth points to His death. Like the manna, tiny as a coriander seed (Numbers 11:7), fell from Heaven, so the Bread of Life, left His throne in Heaven, to enter the womb, a tiny seed; God becoming man to redeem humanity.
But this Manger King was not placed in a wooden box as seen in most Nativity scenes. He was placed in a hewn-out stone livestock feeding trough; a small replica of His tomb hewn out of rock.
Wrapped in swaddling cloths (which were old priestly garments cut up and used to light the menorah in the temple, representing His robe of righteousness) as a babe after birth, to reveal He would be wrapped in linen as a man after His death.
Entering the world He created in the very location where the shepherds’ sheep would give birth to the unblemished sacrificial Passover lambs, the Spotless Lamb of God was the only human baby ever born with the purpose of dying…for you. And this, so that you might have life victorious in Him through an intimate relationship with Him.
The Heavenly Bread who was born in the House of Bread (the Hebrew meaning of Bethlehem), wants to feed you with no strings attached. He wants you to take from His finished work and receive His righteousness. Like bread in a wood-fired oven, Jesus took our fiery judgement on the cross so that we could live in His full acceptance and feast on His abundance.
As the never-ending Bread of Life, you can have as much of Him as you want. He longs to multiply His health to you, His hope to you, His Peace to you, His comfort to you, His joy to you, His supply for your every need and desire. Whether it’s practical, emotional or spiritual, He is no respecter of persons and requires nothing of you except this: come as you are and trust in His undying unconditional love for you.
“Jesus replied, I am the Bread of Life. He who comes to Me will never be hungry, and he who believes in and cleaves to and trusts in and relies on Me will never thirst any more (at any time).” John 6:33, 35 AMPC
